ROD AND PIN SOURCES
Rod and pin sources are typically used as calibration sources for scanner set-up and periodic scanner calibration or normalization*. They are also used as transmission sources for patient attenuation correction. Custom activities and geometries are available for special orders.

CYLINDER PHANTOM SOURCES
Cylinder phantom sources are typically used as calibration sources for scanner set-up and periodic scanner calibration in 2D and 3D modes. The radioactive element is uniformly distributed in a cylindrical mold 20 cm in diameter by 19 cm long. Custom activities and geometries are available for special orders.

POINT SOURCES

Point sources are used as calibration sources for scanner set-up and periodic scanner calibration. They are also used as spot markers to identify anatomical points of interest and as transmission sources for attenuation correction measurements. The radioactive element is typically 1 to 2 mm in diameter and is located inside one end of a stainless steel tube. Custom activities and geometries are available for special orders.

PHANTOM SHIELDS
Phantom Shields are designed to store any standard 20cm PET cylinder phantoms regardless of manufacturer. Steel-jacketed lead is used on the top cover and the sides to attenuate the 511 keV gamma radiation. Sanders Medical Phantom Shields are supplied with four caster wheels and a detachable pull handle for easy movement. Total weight = 144 kg/316 lbs.

CUSTOM SOURCES
Sanders Medical produced many of the sources in use in the world today. Most were developed in cooperation with leading scanner manufacturers. Please contact us if you have any custom needs or design requirements beyond our standard products.
